Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-04
This policy explains how the Rails of Revival website and the game itself handle data. They are separate, so they are described separately. In short: the website has visit analytics that are off by default; the game's online features are all provided by Steam, and we collect no data ourselves.
The website
This site is a set of static pages. It has no accounts and asks you for no personal information.
- The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and referrers, to learn how visitors find the game.
- Analytics is denied by default: no analytics cookie is written until you click Accept.
- Your choice is kept in your browser's local storage; clear the site data to choose again.
- The site shows no ads, does no cross-site tracking, and sells no data to anyone.
The game
The game is still in development and is planned for release on Steam. It is a single-player game with no real-time online play. We run no servers of our own and have no account system of our own, and the game contains no analytics or advertising code.
The game uses the Steam features listed below. That data is stored and processed by Valve under the Steam Privacy Policy; we do not receive your Steam account information.
- Cloud saves: your save files sync between your devices through Steam Cloud. You can turn this off for the game in the Steam client.
- Achievements and stats: which achievements you have unlocked, and in-game statistics such as total distance hauled, are recorded on your Steam profile. Your Steam privacy settings decide who can see them.
- Leaderboards: when you submit a score, your Steam display name, the score, and the record used to re-verify it (the game commands you issued during that run) appear on the leaderboard and are visible to other players.
- Workshop: only maps you choose to upload are made public, together with your Steam display name. If you upload nothing, nothing is shared.
- Seed codes and share images: these exist only when you copy or save them yourself. They contain map parameters and that run's management figures, and who receives them is up to you.
Not every feature is live yet
The list above describes what is planned for release; development builds may include only some of it. If the features actually shipped, or the data they involve, differ from what is written here, this page will be changed before that update goes out.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated.
